Conductivity

Definition:

The electrical conductivity is a measure for the electrostatic rechargeableness of dusts and is usually indicated in the unit pS/m.

(1 pS = 1 pico Siemens = 10^-12 Ohm^-1).

Testing Method:

 according to BG Chemie R 003 6/2000

Safety-relevant meaning:

Partly the separation of materials by mechanical Separation or mechanical treatment can be accompanied by an electrostatic loading of the same.

This can jump over also by influence on neighbouring articles or persons.

In a combustible atmosphere an electrostatic unloading can work as ignition source for an explosion.
